Local Childcare and Preschool Options

Are you looking for a local childcare or preschool for your child? We can help.  Here is information about:

  • Head Start Federal Subsidy: apply online at Head Start pre-registration application

    Our local Head Start program is at 56 Vernon Street in Northampton.

  • MA State Childcare Voucher – MyChildCareMA portal
    As of May 2026, there is a new portal for families to use to apply for vouchers and see where your application is on the waitlist.

    • If you are applying for a voucher for the first time, go to the MyChildCareMA page for more information. 
      • Part of the application process will create a MyMassGov personal account and login.
      • When you log into your MyMassGov account, you can see your voucher application and progress.
    • If you are already on the voucher waitlist, you do not need to apply again.  Your existing application has been moved to the new portal. 
      • To access your existing application, create a “personal account” on MyMassGov.  
      • When you log into your MyMassGov account, you can see your voucher application and progress.

  • Northampton's Commonwealth Preschool Partnership Initiative offers limited childcare subsidies at community-based licensed preschools and family child care programs in our city. Some programs also offer in-house financial aid options.
